An English translator who speaks Catalan and understands Catalonia
Many of my Catalan-English translations are for academics who work in the social sciences. The kind of texts they produce need to be translated by somebody who understands the cultural background against which they are written.
They trust me to translate their work because they know I understand el fet català: Catalonia's history, its historic and current relationship with Spain, the political and linguistic situation in Catalonia and a range of other aspects that a Catalan-English translator must take into account. Certain expressions carry connotations that will only be understood by a translator who has become immersed in Catalan culture.
